A short drive, just 1.5 hours from Toronto, and it was as if we were in a different world. Weather-wise, at least. As we got close to Midland, the weather was changing rapidly from a cool, sunny early winter day to a full-blown blizzard. Suddenly in deep snow, we trudged around the edge of a small lake - Little Lake - taking in the barely visible landscape and treading carefully to avoid any chance of stepping through ice. The light from the open lake cast a nice hint of brightness on some trees at the edge and as I turned, I saw these. With the almost blank white landscape and the delicate lines of these two trees, I was reminded of Japanese ink paintings.
